LITTER FREE THUNDER BAY
MISSION STATEMENT

To prevent littering in Thunder Bay.

Actions:

1. Unite Thunder Bay in action to prevent littering, strengthening the visual appeal, economic viability and quality of life of Thunder Bay.

2. Implement a program of public education encouraging litter prevention.

3. Encourage pride in the beauty of our community and in its care.

4. Ensure adequate numbers of strong trash receptacles are placed in public spaces, outside businesses and at events and ensure that trash is properly disposed of and managed.

5. Ensure effective by-laws, enforcement and reporting mechanisms for littering and garbage dumping.

6. Develop partnerships with businesses, the city and other organizations which will support litter prevention.

7. Implement litter prevention programs in local schools.

8. Implement measures to address improperly contained curb side garbage.

9. Implement measures to prevent the dumping of garbage, landscaping debris, construction materials, appliances and other unsightly debris onto local public and private lands.
